These same officers have been solving some of the most high-profile crimes in the heart of the capital in recent years.
On Thursday, April 2, shortly after 6:00 a.m., one of them was on his way to work. While crossing Constitution Square, he noticed a man across the street brutally attacking a woman. The attacker punched her in the head several times and kicked her all over. When the victim tried to escape through a doorway, the 37-year-old continued the attack, even kicking her dog . Fortunately, the animal was unharmed.

A city center police officer reacted immediately. He ran towards the attacker, who, after attacking the woman, attempted to attack another person. He didn’t have time, as he was already on the ground, paralyzed, just seconds after the initial attack. During the incident, the 37-year-old threatened the officer with death. The attacker was taken to the police station on Wilcza Street, where a breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of over two per mille. No dangerous objects or drugs were found on the man.
In connection with the case, police officers from the Department for Combating Crimes Against Life and Health are conducting procedural activities, including interviewing witnesses. The victim states that she does not know the perpetrator and has never seen him before. In the morning, as usual, she was taking her several-month-old puppy for a walk when she felt a strong blow to the back of her head . She turned and saw a large man who kicked her in the stomach. As she fled toward the store and the gate, he struck her repeatedly. The 37-year-old also struck the victim’s dog, which was also unharmed.
The perpetrator’s motive is currently unknown, and police are reconstructing the entire incident. Various scenarios are being considered, but everything points to the assailant acting randomly .
The city centre police also revealed that the police officer who stopped the brutal attack at Konstytucji Square had been working on a high-profile case from the end of February 2024, when, together with other police officers from the Department for Combating Crimes Against Life and Health at the Wilcza Street police station, he located and detained Dorian S., the perpetrator of a young woman from Belarus.
The attacker faces severe punishment. He is currently being held at the Wilcza Street police station. Further legal proceedings are planned in this case.
